What it does
Separate accounts that never bleed into each other.
Truly isolated
Every Desktop profile and every CLI account gets its own data directory — separate login, history, cookies, settings and MCP config. Nothing from one account is ever visible to another.
Run them together
No single-instance lock, no signing out. Keep several Desktop windows and several Claude Code terminals live at the same time, each on its own account.
Out of usage? Keep going New
When one account hits its limit mid-task, copy the session to another — a Desktop profile's Code tab or a CLI account — and pick up right where you left off. The original stays untouched, and each copy carries on separately.
Sign in without closing anything macOS & Linux
Claude Desktop hands sign-ins to whichever window is already open. Turn on Concurrent sign-in and each new profile completes its own login while the others stay signed in — no quitting, no juggling.
Reopened after Claude updates itself macOS & Windows
When Claude Desktop auto-updates, it closes every profile. Personae notices the version change and brings back the ones you had open — unless you quit them on purpose.
Claude Code, per account
Each CLI account carries its own real Claude sign-in — full email and org identity — and refreshes on its own. Type claude and it runs as the right account, every time. Rename, re-sign-in or delete without touching the others.
Bring your own provider bridge: macOS & Windows
Point an account at an API key instead: any Anthropic-compatible endpoint with its own base URL, model and small/fast model. Press Test to see what a URL speaks. Anthropic-compatible endpoints work on all three; OpenAI-style ones need the built-in bridge, which is macOS and Windows for now — on Linux, Personae says so rather than saving a setting that would not run. Keep a per-account model list, refreshed from Anthropic when you want.
Own Claude Code data per Desktop profile
The Code tab inside Claude Desktop normally shares one ~/.claude across profiles. Flip Isolate and that profile's memory, hooks, plugins and session history stay with the account they belong to.

Can I run two (or more) Claude accounts at the same time?
Yes. Personae has no instance limit — open as many Claude Desktop windows and Claude Code terminals as you like, all at once, each signed in to a different account.
Does it work with Claude Code (the CLI)?
Yes. Create a CLI account for each login; each keeps its own real Claude sign-in — full email and org identity — and runs independently. Open a project and its IDE terminals launch claude already signed in to that account, so you never log out to switch.
How do I run multiple Claude accounts on a Mac?
Install Personae, add a profile or CLI account for each login (Work, Personal, a client…), then launch. Every one is fully isolated with its own login and history — sign in once and it stays signed in.
Which IDEs does the CLI integration support?
VS Code, Cursor, Windsurf, and Antigravity — any VS Code-family editor. Personae sets CLAUDE_CONFIG_DIR for the project folder so its terminals use the right Claude Code account automatically.
Which platforms does it run on?
macOS 11+, Windows 10+, and Linux (x86_64 — a .deb for Debian/Ubuntu/Mint and an AppImage for everything else). Claude Code (CLI) accounts and IDE workspaces work on all three — Windows and Linux are in beta. Desktop profiles work on Linux too, in beta. They need Anthropic's own Claude Desktop for Linux, which is itself in beta — Ubuntu 22.04+ or Debian 12+, installed from Anthropic's apt repository. One difference to know about there: every Claude window reports the same application id, so on Wayland all profiles share a single dock icon. Each profile still gets its own tinted icon in the application menu.

Can I use an API key or a different provider instead of a claude.ai login?
Yes. Any CLI account can run on an API key with its own base URL and model — Anthropic's API, a proxy, a gateway such as OpenRouter or DeepSeek. Press Test and Personae tells you whether the endpoint speaks Anthropic's protocol or OpenAI's; for OpenAI-style providers it runs a small local bridge that translates on the fly. Each account keeps its own model list.
Can I sign a second Desktop profile in while the first is open?
On macOS, yes: turn on Concurrent sign-in in the Desktop settings and each profile completes its own login while the others stay signed in. It switches itself on the first time you have two profiles. On Windows, sign profiles in one at a time.
What happens when Claude Desktop updates itself?
Claude closes every window when it installs an update. Personae watches for the version change and reopens the profiles you had running — unless you'd quit them yourself. Personae itself keeps working across Claude updates because it wraps the copy you have installed rather than bundling its own.
Is my data private? Does Personae see my logins?
No. There's no account, no server, and no telemetry. Personae only orchestrates the Claude you already installed; each profile and account's data stays on your machine, isolated from the others.
Will it break when Claude updates?
No. Personae wraps your installed Claude rather than repackaging it, so it keeps working after Claude's auto-updates.
What counts as an account on the free plan?
Desktop profiles and CLI accounts together, in any mix. A new install gets a 7-day trial with two; after that the free plan keeps one account open — you choose which, and can switch once a week — and locks the rest. Nothing is ever deleted, and Personae Pro unlocks every account at once. Installs from before the trial keep their two accounts. One Pro key activates on up to 3 machines, and you can deactivate a machine from Settings → License to move it.

macOS — right-click the app and choose Open, then confirm. (Or go to System Settings → Privacy & Security → Open Anyway.)
Windows — if a blue “Windows protected your PC” box appears, click More info → Run anyway.
